Palembang, Here I Come !

All The Way To Palembang

Hello folks! Thank you for clicking to my blog. My second post is about my trip to Palembang. Soooo excited! Guess where is my first destination at Palembang ? Of course, Ampera Bridge.

Ampera Bridge

Ampera Bridge
Ampera Bridge

This bridge is the icon of Palembang City which connected two cities, Seberang Ulu and Seberang Ilir that separated by the Musi River. The bridge was officially opened by Bung Karno, first Indonesia's president at the year of 1965. Interesting fact about Ampera Bridge is, it can be lifted at a spped about 10 meters per minute to allow big ship go through the river. Since 1970, the bridge no longer can be lifted as considering the time consume (30 minutes time taken to full lift) can disturb the flow of traffic. The design that similar with London Bridge make me feel amazed and the view of the bridge at night will give you different vibes.

Monpera

Next, we move on to our second destination. Monpera is a monument that symbolic of local people struggle against the Dutch. Nmae of the monument is comes from Indonesian language, Monumen Perjuangan Rakyat. The monument is located adjacent to the Great Mosque of Palembang. The monument has a shape of jasmine flower that represents the purity of soldier's heart. It comes with 5 sides that each one represents the residencies of South Sumatra. The picture above shown that we are getting ready for group photo and some of us are not yet ready. Hehehehehe

University Sriwijaya (UNSRI)

I am so happy for having opportunity to visit Universiti Sriwijaya (UNSRI) that is one of the major state universities in Indonesia. UNSRI have two campus which located at Palembang and the other one is at Indralaya. We are so grateful able to meet with the head of faculty and lecturers there. They were so friendly and welcome us with warm-hearted. During this session, we are given chances to exchange knowledge between UTM and UNSRI and believe this programme is our first step to create great networking across country.

We are so lucky because during our visit to UNSRI, they are running new resgistration programme for the new student. It is very interesting to see how other university from different country running their orientation programme. In UNSRI, the university provide huge tent classified based on the course so it can help student to find the registration venue easily. Big thanks to our frind from UNSRI, we are given another special opportunity to greet new student of UNSRI. We even sings a few songs with the crowd there. I will jump to the our last night activity which is night cultural exchange and galadinner. That night, we, students from UTM were performing malaysian culture which called Boria followed by fashion show to introduce our national dress that consists three main race, Malay, Chinese and Indian. I am wearing red punjabi that i borrowed from my friend. The performance from UNSRI is Tari Tanggai that know as traditional dance to welcome the guest. It was very interesting and great experience to learn and get to know other culture and expose to them about our culture.

Thank you my fellow friends from UTM and UNSRI for giving me chances to experience this great trip and i hope we can come back again in the future.

Have a nice day everyone !
